Dan Shryock, Travel Writer - Cycle Tourism
Rail travel, even daily commuting into Manhattan, but significantly farther to
afield in Amtrak's Northeast Corridor has always been my favorite mode of
transport. Reading Thomas Baker's guides for these spectacular rail journeys and their hidden attractions has convinced me that it's time to enjoy the pleasures of one or more of these amazing routes. The dilemma is which should I try first?!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2023The Empire Builder route passes through so many historic and beautiful places. I was so fortunate to have this book as my guide to help me understand what I was seeing and where we were along the route. It really brought so much to life for me, and I learnt so much. Without this, I would have passed through the endless miles and know next to nothing about them. I have now purchased the other books in the series to read as an armchair tourist until I get the chance to take those journeys. I should mention this book is easy to read, very concise, but contains stacks of info.
